UCT set up its Hangzhou facility in Xiaoshan New Economic and Technological Development Zone on August 12, 2010 to provide thermal spray coating services for some specific local customers. This facility which in a rented workshop was originally opened under GE's suggestion for HVOF spraying the parts from its local hydraulic power plant. 

The location of Hangzhou facility is in Xiaoshan, which is a centralized area for hydro power plant parts manufacturing. GE set up its largest facility in Asia here since 1996 and focused on hydro power generation systems manufacturings. It is just about one hour from Shanghai by high speed train, and is therefore very convenient for the company to serve its customers in Shanghai or even Jiangsu area.
